“I only like two kinds of men, domestic and imported” - Mae West
I’ve said before how much I love men... all types. Well men (and some women) love me too! I had a pretty eventful Friday. I ended up hanging solo. P.A.T.T. backed out at the last minute & Brian went home for his daughter’s birthday, while other chick friends were out of town or missing in action.
Side Note: Pre-Brian and Post P.A.T.T. leaving for NY, I used to hang out quite often solo. Chick friends come up with so many excuses, i.e. “I’m cramping”, “My head hurts”, “I don’t have anything to wear” or my favorite “It’s raining”. So rather than sit at home and wait for someone to stop being wishy washy...I fly solo when needed, but I digress...
So anyways, Friday was... well here’s what happened.
5. I went to a Brazilian dance party in Adams Morgan. Tons of fun, and somehow, the island men always sniff me out. They assume I’m 1) from the islands and 2) don’t believe me when I tell them, I was homegrown in the States...in any case, this island guy was Old. Caused me to have not so yummy flashbacks of the Old Man. After shaking him and his entourage loose, I bar hopped to my next spot...
4. Stumbled upon another bar with cool music. Chatted with people. Everyone that I meet when I’m solo, is in such “awe and amazement” that I have the balls (figuratively speaking) to go out solo (Diva style). Most of the girls say they wish they could do that, and the guys, just think it’s pretty cool, and give me cool points.
3. Went back to the Brazilian dance party...(the lead singer was cute...couldn’t help it)
2. After consuming my max on vodka & limes, I walked past a food spot that looked good. Stopped in and got a sandwich. As I’m sitting there this chick tells me how good my sandwich looks. Thinking nothing of it, I go on to adamantly exclaim, how it’s “sooooooo good”. Then she stairs at me a little longer:
Chick Girl: Yeah, you’re making that sandwich look soooo good
Me: (wiping the extra sandwich sauce from chin, cause it was messy) Yea, it’s really good, you should get one. It’s chicken
Chick Girl: (walks over to me, looks at sandwich) Yeah, it’s sexy. You’re making me hungry
Me: (I’m still eating)
Chick Girl: Can I have a bite?
Me: No
Chick Girl: (laughing) what’s in it? Are you alone?
I tell her. Her male friend/cousin/ whoever comes and intervenes (saves me) and talks to me. This isn’t the first time a chick girl has “flirted” with me. I wonder though, don’t gay men & lesbians have “Straight-dars”. I know I have a “Gay-dar” (Disclaimer: Sometimes it doesn’t function properly, you know, mistakes straight for gay & vice versa). In any case, I’m comfortable enough in my womanhood, where it didn’t bother me....but I have to wonder...what the hell was she thinking? Oh well...I guess I’m flattered men & women like me (I think)...
1. Tony and I talked on the phone all night Friday.

Confessions
So I've been holding on to a few secrets, that need to be unloaded, in no particular order...
1. I've been thinking about moving out of the Country a lot more lately
2. I think guys that are smart are hot!
3. I walked pass my old gym, and thought about joining again just for the eye candy...it makes no sense because my gym is in Virginia, but I live and work in DC...
4. Now that I'm starting fresh with new guys, I feel like I need to do some other "drastic things"
5. I love watching hot (in every sense of the word) men run, who have nice bodies, and take their shirts off. One almost caused an accident last summer. WARNING: do not drive while breaking your neck to look at the hot jogger, forget talking on the cell phone & driving, driving & gawking should be against the law
6. I can't wait for warm weather
7. I'll rock a "hoochie" dress with class, and turn around and wear a business suit the next day...
8. I'm not a label whore
9. Victoria's Secret is my favorite online store, I'm a pantie whore. I LOVE cute panties...I hate bras
10. I think I really liked Tony for the sex, but he had to go and mess everything up with his bi-polarness, random banter, weirdness...damn him
11. I thought about becoming celibate, but that's like me saying I'm going to stop drinking. I'm going to become celibate...
12. I really do like Brian, a lot, but he SLORES way too much for me. I'm going to get him a going away present. A t-shirt that reads "Reformed Slut" or "I'm in Sluts Anonymous"... he'll like it. Trust me
13. (We're still on Brian) The fact that he slept with Monster's Inc. was such a turn off. I don't think I can look at him the same
14. He's still sexy
15. I need to get back into the gym
16. I hate, absolutely hate online dating...I'm thinking about doing it though...I'm bored
17. I haven't had a good cry in a long time, I mean a good one, I feel like I need one just to balance things out, but then again, I love being in my Happy Place...can't remember the last time I cried.....hmmm
18. I went to a nudest beach, I didn't intend on getting naked, but someone blasted me out, and was like, "she's not naked!!!" Security came over and told me I had to get naked...WTF?
19. I wonder how long I can stay on the wagon. I went a record of 10 days once...
20. I fantasize about romping with Brian, well until the Gremlin incident. But I don't actually want to have sex with him ( I think), it will ruin the fantasy...although 2, count them 2 of my friends are trying to be bad influences, and told me I should romp with him before he goes to Texas....bad friends, bad...
21. I'm tired as hell, but can't fall asleep, maybe I should have a glass of wine...wait, I'm on the wagon...

My Type
“If you put all of the guys I date into a room, the only thing they will have in common is me...”
I’ve admitted this before. I LOVE MEN! In fact, sometimes I wonder if I’m addicted to flirting. This weekend was no exception. With all of the extra men around (some, in uniform) I think I almost broke my neck a few times and not from trying to see Mr. President... he’s married.
I made the comment above to my Aunt about the guys I date...they generally have nothing in common. I mean, except for me. It’s no surprise though, because my tastes in men changes with the wind. One morning I may wake up and want scrambled eggs and the next waffles. I have never been the type to jump on the latest “fad-wagon”. It’s hard enough staying on my own wagon, instead, I check every guy’s wagon. So I decided to make a list of SOME of the qualities that INITIALLY attracts me to guys...and yes, I mean, some of the “first” things I notice about a guy, then everything comes second or third. Oh this list is ALWAYS CHANGING, isn’t this the year of change anyways???.
In No Particular Order
Sex Appeal
Sexiness
Guys who wear glasses (cool glasses, not coke bottle glasses)
Posture
Confidence
Tall guys

A guy who smells good
The way a guy “unintentionally” commands your attention when he walks into a room
Grooming style
Guys with accents
The ability to be different, and to be comfortable doing so
Intellectual type
Athletic type
Artsy type (it’s something about a guy who uses his hands to create something beautiful whether it’s music, art, buildings...)
Guys in Business Suits
Humor
Goals
Arms
Chest
Abs
Dancing skills
Life of the Party
Guys who are up on Politics
Cool
Laid Back
DJ’s ( I have a crush on a local DJ)
Guys who play instruments (Drummers get me every time)
Guys with “sexy” hair
Bald headed guys
Guys who look like they can protect me
Construction workers
Guys in uniform
A Guy who flirts subtly
A Guy who is quick witted
A Guy who volunteers
A Guy who seems like he’s a Humanitarian
A guy who is a little sarcastic
Motorcycles
A Guy who likes to travel
Guys who run outside in the summer with nice bodies (I damn near break my neck trying to watch them)
Guys who are cute and they are walking their dog, and their dog is cute (puppies are cute, can’t help it)
The cool t-shirt & jeans guy

When 1 + 1 = 4
Boyz 2 Men.
The difference between boyz & men is great. And to determine the difference quickly, it takes a woman who knows what a real man is. That would be me! I met this guy "Akeem" Friday when I went out. He was cute, charming, and most of all, he had sexy hair that I wanted to pull. We exchanged numbers and texted and talked a few times since Friday. Tuesday, he asked to meet for tea or coffee, but I had plans with the Old Man. Last night he asked me to meet him at a local lounge that was advertising free drinks and admission. I'm all about the drink specials!!! So I said YES!
The agreed upon time for our date was 9:00pm. He took the Metro, so he ended up getting there late! After waiting in the car & sending text messages back and forth, I decided to go in and wait. He called me & told me that he ran into one of his friends and they would be joining us...cool????
I get in and go to the bar to wait for him. By this time it's 10:00pm. This guy sitting at the bar starts a conversation with me, so I entertain myself while I wait. Akeem finally walks in. He walks over and we exchange hugs. So there's a few things about him and said place that I must disclose. He's young. 23 to be exact. Everyone else in said lounge is about 21ish as well. I must have been hanging around Old Geezers too long, because I really felt like I was back in college on "college-night".
So one friend turns into two friends. Fine. I'm running the text messages and conversations back through my head to see if I missed something...
1st Text from Akeem at 3:00pm: Hey hope u been well..._______ has free open entry and open bar tonight, would you like to go if your time is free?
Me: Thank you. It's going well. What time would you like to go? I could use a drink!
Akeem: I could use a drink too. I just got the text. Open bar is from 9-11. Let's shoot to be there at 9 if that's not too late for you
Me: Perfect. Can you please forward me the text
So after texting back and forth a few more times, our plans are set. We even talked once again around 7pm to confirm everything. During all of this he didn't say my friends are coming or are meeting us there...nada. Had he said, "I'm going to the bar for drinks tonight with friends, you should stop by & have drinks with us" I would have been cool. But I wasn't in the mood to hang out with 21 year old boys tonight. So I left the boys and went to the grown-folks lounge around the corner. What a difference!

Addicted to Men
I never thought in a million years that I would be dating someone who is 31 years older than me...but I guess I should know to never say never. Although Old Man Benjamin & I aren't exclusive, we've been seeing a lot more of each other. Last night we went out to dinner and to this little jazz spot. The atmosphere and music were great, there was just one problem...I kept looking at other guys. There was this absolutely gorgeous trumpet player who was probably my age, who I was eyeing the whole night. I have a problem...I'm addicted to men...ok, maybe not addicted...wait I am. The first step to recognizing you have a problem is admitting it.
I LOVE MEN!
Ok, now that that's out the way. I realize what I need. I need someone who can hold my attention...because I have the attention span of a puppy or a small child. I need to be with and date someone, that when I am out with them, I don't care about anyone else or anything else around us at that moment. It's just me and him. I won't secretly check out the other hotter guys, because I will think he's the best thing since sliced bread...
I felt that way with Island Prince. When we went out, I can honestly say...I did NOT check out anyone else. Not once. And he didn't either.
